Angelos Sofocleous was born in Nicosia, Cyprus, in 1994. He grew up in an Orthodox Christian family and environment and (re)became an atheist when he was 16. He studies Philosophy at the University of Durham, UK. He is a writer and editor in various national and international newspapers and magazines (Conatus News, The Bubble UK, Palatinate UK, and others) and editor-in-chief of Secular Nation magazine, the official magazine of the Atheist Alliance of America. He is the president-elect of Humanist Students, president of Durham Humanist Students Society, and president of the bicommunal Cypriot Society of Durham. He has also published two poetry collections in Greek, in which he deals with life, death, religion, love, and social issues.
